COMICS: Narrative Art

You don't have to be a great artist to be a great creator of comics. You do, however, have to develop a style and a voice that is consistent and effective for your purpose. Comics take many forms and serve many purposes; for our class, we are focusing on just a few of the many amazing options.

Your assignment: Choose one of the following comic formats (12-Panel Pitch; Comic Essay; Memes, Vines, and GIFs; or Short Stand-Alones) or another format of your choice and create your own comic. If you draw your comic out by hand, make it digital by uploading a photo of it. 
Create a 12-panel storyboard for a full-length feature film you would want to create. What story do you want to tell? Boil it down into 12 panels, telling the entire narrative in this space. 
Memes, Vines, and GIFs are a relative of the comic often found in BuzzFeed lists. Using that list format, create a BuzzFeed list with 10 vines, memes, or gifs that YOU create to present a topic of your choice.
Comic Essays build vertically and are meant to be scrolled through. Web comics serve many purposes. Your web comic should be satirical and/or educational, like what The Oatmeal creates.
Short stand-alones like xkcd publish serially, but on different topics instead of one long narrative or theme. However, the style and voice stay consistent. You should create the equivalent of 10 single panels.
